Blackwater Creek is managed by Joe and Cheryl Pawlak. Both possess degrees in Aquaculture and over three decades of experience in fish production, along with an understanding of marketing both retail and wholesale. Their longstanding relationship with their many Japanese Koi mentors allows them to offer you the best American bred Koi, year round, at very competitive prices.

Located in central and northwestern Florida, Blackwater Creek Koi Farms is able to produce high quality Standard Fin Koi, Butterfly Koi and Goldfish all at reasonable prices due to the 11 month growing season. The brood stock we use can trace its lineage back to the original, high quality, fish we imported from Japan and our own cultivated stock. Just take a look at our Braggin' Rights!

We closed our doors to outside fish in 2002!

All imported brood fish were last brought into the farm in 2002. They were tested for the KHV virus prior to shipping them to our farms (the fish were held at a university quarantine center (for 30 days). In addition we voluntarily test for SVC twice a year, and have done so for the past five years. We have never had a single instance of KHV or SVC.

Mr. Pawlak been participating voluntarily for several years (since 2003) in a Spring Viremia of Carp virus (SVCv) surveillance program run by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal Plant and Health Inspection Services (USDA APHIS). All samples collected as part of this surveillance were submitted to the National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) in Ames, IA and all fish from his farm sites tested negative for SVCv. Since then Mr. Pawlak has been submitting (voluntarily) Koi from his different farm sites for SVCv testing as part of a University of Florida grant project to determine the prevalence of SVCv in Florida commercially reared koi and goldfish. The protocols followed during this project are in line with recommendations for SVCv fish sampling and virus detection from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) for establishing and maintaining freedom of disease. Koi from Mr. Pawlak's Blountstown site have been sampled continuously since 2007.

To date all samples submitted have been negative for SVCv.

For those with garden centers and pond stores; This means a great selection of Koi, Butterfly Koi and Goldfish, of all sizes year round, when you need them. We will do everything possible to ensure your longstanding success and ours. Our goal is similar to a happy marriage, both sides getting enjoyment from the other. We understand that you have goals and difficulties being a retailer. We too have had (and do have) retail experience and understand that you wear many different hats. We believe we can help you succeed. We understand that there are many places to buy Koi and many who claim to be Koi farms. A simple Google search of the owners names usually provide the details of who you are considering dealing with. Please Google us, ask others in the industry and make your purchasing decisions on what you find. We look forward to earning (and keeping) your business.

For those with Koi ponds in the hobby; We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to purchase Koi at certain times of the year and in certain locations. Blackwater Creek Koi Farms does sell fish to individuals as well. This can be done through the extensive list of Koi stocking packages and larger individual Koi in our online catalog. If you have a Blackwater Koi dealer in your area, please support them. In some instances they can offer you some very good deals due to their buying power with us. Our fish are ranked as some of the best around and our selections and continuous breeding program ensures something new each year. Finding that special fish is exciting and will bring years of enjoyment.
